Public Information Consultant

Building visibility, trust, and influence in complex environments

Communicating project results that shape public perception and stakeholder action

Nowadays, multiple actors compete for attention and credibility matters more than volume. Public communications must do more than inform: they must position, persuade, and build the relationships that enable organizations to advance their priorities. Whether managing media in crisis settings, coordinating multi-agency campaigns, or building advocacy frameworks that influence policy, effective external communication determines how your organization is understood and whether your message translates into stakeholder action.
I work with organizations that operate in high-stakes contexts where public perception directly impacts operational effectiveness. From UN integrated offices coordinating across peacekeeping missions and humanitarian agencies to government programs navigating complex stakeholder landscapes, I develop the communication infrastructure that turns institutional priorities into public narratives that resonate, build trust, and drive engagement.

From institutional priorities to public impact

Most organizations already have clear mandates and strategic goals. The challenge is translating these into external communication that aligns stakeholder expectations, strengthens positioning, and supports both advocacy and operational objectives.
I begin by examining how your organization currently engages externally: what messages reach which audiences, where coordination breaks down across departments or partners, and what gaps exist between institutional priorities and public perception.
The goal is communication infrastructure that doesn’t just respond to external demands; it proactively shapes how your organization is perceived and enables the relationships needed to achieve strategic objectives.

In challenging operational settings, effective media relations requires more than press release distribution. It demands understanding the media landscape, building trusted relationships with journalists, and coordinating information flows across multiple entities that need to speak with one voice.

Media Relations & Press Coordination

Building Credibility Through Strategic Media Engagement

I’ve served as the primary liaison between UN agencies, peacekeeping missions, OCHA, and local and international media, managing:
• Media strategy and coordination: Establishing protocols for press engagement, message alignment, and joint communications across multiple organizations
• Press conference organization and spokesperson support: Preparing officials for media engagement, coordinating logistics, and ensuring consistent messaging
• Proactive media outreach and relationship building: Cultivating relationships with journalists, identifying story opportunities, and positioning organizational priorities in media coverage
• Media monitoring and intelligence: Conducting systematic monitoring of traditional and digital media, producing analysis reports, and tracking narrative trends
• Rapid response and crisis communications: Managing media-facing information flows during crises, coordinating unified responses, and maintaining credibility when accuracy and speed both matter.
My work has covered environments from Mali to Burkina Faso, where coordinating communications across UN Country Teams, peacekeeping operations, and humanitarian actors required both interpersonal skills and operational knowledge. The result: unified external voices that strengthen institutional credibility and enable effective engagement with media that shape public understanding.

Campaign Development & Public Engagement

Driving awareness, behavior change, and stakeholder action

Public campaigns succeed when they’re built on clear objectives, audience insight, and integrated execution across channels. I’ve coordinated and implemented campaigns that range from SDG advocacy to extractives transparency, child labor awareness, and crisis response, each requiring different approaches but unified by strategic planning and results-focused execution.
Campaign services include:
• Campaign strategy and planning: Defining objectives, target audiences, key messages, and success metrics
• Multi-channel execution: Coordinating activities across traditional media, digital platforms, events, and stakeholder engagement
• Content development: Creating campaign materials (brochures, factsheets, promotional items, digital assets, advocacy toolkits)
• Partnership coordination: Managing joint campaigns with UN agencies, government counterparts, NGOs, and civil society organizations.
• Youth and public engagement initiatives: Designing participatory campaigns like the SDG Youth Ambassadors program that mobilize community action
• Impact measurement: Tracking reach, engagement, and behavior change indicators. For communication audits and measurement frameworks, see Strategic Communications.

Examples of managed campaigns

  • #FixAid and #Trace campaigns: Multi-stakeholder advocacy on extractives transparency and resource governance.
  • National campaign on child labor in artisanal mining (Burkina Faso): Communication materials and awareness efforts.

The focus is on campaigns that don’t just generate awareness; they change perceptions, influence behavior, and create conditions for policy and institutional change.
